Stopping Global Warming
Greenhouse gas emissions are caused by fossil fuels such as coal, oil and natural gases. The way humans can reduce greenhouse gas emissions is by changing the fuel source that we use. There are many alternative fuels, such as:
-
Nuclear Energy
-
Solar Energy
-
Wind Energy
-
Hydroelectric Energy
-
etc...
Each fuel source has its own advantages and disadvantages, they will be highlighted later on.

Nuclear Energy
Advantages:
-
Sustainable
-
Doesn't produce Greenhouse gases.
Disadvantages:
-
Produces radioactive waste that has to be safely disposed of.
-
Can cause major disasters if there is an accident.

Solar Energy
Advantages:
-
Sustainable
-
Doesn't produce Greenhouse gases.
Disadvantages:
-
Inefficient
-
Technology not sufficiently advanced yet.

Wind Energy
Advantages:
-
Sustainable
-
Doesn't produce Greenhouse gases.
Disadvantages:
-
Unreliable - If there is no wind, there will be no energy produced.
-
Produces less energy output than fossil fuels.

Hydroelectric Energy
Advantages:
-
Produces a huge amount of energy.
-
Doesn't produce Greenhouse gases.
Disadvantages:
-
Takes a lot of effort to organize.
-
Can kill estuary species of birds.
`What can the government do?:
-
Cease the production of diesel and petrol cars
-
Promote electric and hybrid vehicles
-
Invest in researching alternative fuels
-
Invest in researching electric and hybrid vehicles
-
Ease humans out of relying on fossil fuels to make way for Carbon neutral solutions.

What can we(the public) do?:
-
Use public transport to reduce our carbon footprint
-
Walk or cycle to places that are nearby instead of going in a car or other vehicle
-
Start using products such as the solar roof which has been invented by Tesla or the Powerwall which stores energy to be used in a power shortage.
